Romanian Government: the number of ATI beds will increase this week

The Romanian government will increase the number of ATI beds this week

The Romanian government made a very important announcement through Prime Minister Ludovic Orban, stating that this week the number of beds for intensive therapy will increase by another 200 places, so that it will reach 1500 places, under the conditions that over 1100 people are hospitalized.

The Romanian government wants to further increase the capacity to treat Romanians in intensive care in the next period due to the fact that many infected Romanians end up needing this kind of care, which represents a serious problem for the authorities.

"I discussed with the representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Health two important topics: the plan of checks carried out by the Directorates of Public Health, through the health inspectors, in all intensive care units in the hospital and about increasing the capacity to treat patients who need hospitalization in the intensive care units intensive therapy.

Following DSP controls, there will be a compliance plan brought to the attention of hospital managers, which will include the necessary repair, modernization and acquisition works. All these expenses will be settled through a non-reimbursable European funding.

Related to increasing the treatment capacity in the intensive care units, we discussed in detail the situation in each county, how many intensive care beds there are, how many beds are available. We also discussed the staff situation and the possibilities of recruiting additional staff to serve the intensive care units. Following this review, treatment capacity will be increased, including the inclusion of new hospitals that will become COVID support hospitals and the addition, this week, of at least 200 intensive care unit beds."
