Clarifications about jailbreak and decoding for iOS 4.1

If you entered zaone.ro today, then you have certainly seen it the video clip made by the Dev Team to demonstrate that there is a jailbreak solution for iOS 4.1. At the moment everything is focused on jailbreak and no one is talking about decoding at all, in fact the only clues about decoding can be taken from the Dev Team's article where they talk about PwnagTool. In that article, the Dev Team says that it will release a new version of PwnageTool that will allow all iPhone 4 owners to update to iOS 4.1 without updating the baseband and using ultrasn0w for decoding. From here I understand that along with the jailbreak solution will not come a decoding solution and it is quite likely that a decoding solution will be available at the earliest after the jailbreak solution for iOS 4.2.

We know that the jailbreak solution will work on all terminals and from what is written in the article there will be a program that will allow you to jailbreak directly on iOS 4.1, so you will not have to use a custom ipsw unless you need decoding. Those from the Dev Team were vague in the article precisely so as not to give too many clues to those from Apple. For now, we are waiting to see when the jailbreak solution will be released.

If you have an iPhone 3GS/4 or an iPod Touch 3G/4G with iOS 4.1 then you will NOT be able to decode the phones or jailbreak them or iPod Touches using PwangeTool. If you have SHSH saved for iOS 3.1.2, then you can jailbreak using sn0wbreeze and the next version of PwnageTool.
