Rumor: iTunes could merge with Safari?

For several months there have been rumors indicating that Apple could launch cloud-based services for iTunes, and this one Bell brings an element of novelty in that it indicates the possibility of abandoning iTunes and implementing this program in Safari. The published information indicates that Apple could abandon iTunes and that it could integrate the program in Safari in the form of a web application that would allow audio streaming directly in Safari. Apple built a huge data center in North Carolina, bought the Lala company and its audio streaming service, and since then it has been rumored that Apple could implement audio streaming in iTunes.

In April 2003, Apple launched the iTunes Store within the iTunes software. The integration of the iTunes Store transformed iTunes into a WebKit browser that organized and stored media files. Currently, this browsing experience is strictly tied to Apple's secure iTunes content, however, Apple integrating the iTunes software into the Safari browser changes the entire landscape

To be honest, I don't really see how Apple could integrate iTunes into Safari, considering that the iTunes program is not limited to music, but allows the management of applications or even video content. Giving up the iTunes program would also mean giving up the ability to install applications, copy video content to iDevices or restore. Of course, Apple could integrate all the functionality of iTunes in Safari, but to be honest, I don't understand why it would complicate things so much.

According to those who published the information about the new merger, Safari with built-in iTunes could be launched in the fall when Apple holds a conference where it launches the new iPod Touch model plus other iPod models.
