Apple orders equipment to store 12 million GB of data

Apple gave an order for 12 petabytes or 12 million GB of storage space to a company in Seattle that deals with the development of cloud storage systems for some of the largest companies in the USA. We are talking about an impressive figure and we can only think of the data center that Apple is building in North Carolina and which will go into operation sometime this year. Of course, all this data storage equipment could be used for a new Mobile Me service probably called "Locker" that will allow us to upload music and video files to Apple's servers from where we will be able to access them anytime and anywhere.

For a company like Apple, such equipment denotes an important move that the company probably intends to make in the near future and everyone is betting on the new MobileMe service that has been talked about for several months already.
