Before the launch of the iPad 2, we warned you to be careful when buying a tablet so you don't wake up thinking that instead of the GSM version you are actually buying the CDMA version. I feel obliged to rewrite this warning after a user contacted me asking what he can do with an iPad 2 CDMA tablet specially made for the US Verizon network. Unfortunately, the answer is nothing, the tablet cannot be used with any of the mobile phone operators in Romania because it is coded on Verizon and it is the CDMA version, not GSM. Unfortunately, such a tablet can only be used in Romania with Wi-Fi networks.
In the USA there are quite a few people who sell CDMA tablets instead of GSM ones, so be very careful. If you send someone to buy a tablet from there, tell them to take care to check the serial number on the back and if it says CDMA or Verizon on the serial number, then the tablet is not good in Romania.
