Apple surpasses Nokia, becomes the mobile phone manufacturer with the highest revenues

Thanks to the revenues generated by the more than 18 million iPhone terminals sold in Q2 2011, that is, between January and March, Apple managed to outsmart Nokia for the first time in history in terms of revenues generated by mobile phone sales. On this occasion, Apple becomes the mobile phone manufacturer with the highest revenues generated from the sale of its own products. We are talking about 12 billion dollars generated by the sales of iPhone terminals compared to the 9.4 billion dollars generated by the sales of Nokia phones.

Apple Inc (AAPL.O) became the world's largest phone vendor by revenue in January-March, overtaking Nokia Oyj (NOK1V.HE) for the first time ever, research firm Strategy Analytics said on Thursday. "With strong volumes and high wholesale prices, the PC vendor has successfully captured revenue leadership of the total handset market in less than four years," said analyst Alex Spektor.

For Apple it is a huge achievement considering that it has been producing mobile phones for only 4 years and from a computer manufacturer it has turned into a company that generates half of its revenue from phone sales. It is interesting that the receipts generated by Apple represent almost half of the total revenues generated by the sales of mobile phones globally. Year after year the sales of iPhone terminals have increased and probably this year Apple will end up selling 25 million iPhone terminals per quarter.
