Apple could use AMOLED screens in the iPad 3

A publication from South Korea claims that Apple is courting the Samsun company with a view to a possible implementation of AMOLED technology in the iPad 3 tablet. The Koreans claim that Tim Cook would have met with Samsung officials in a recent visit to South Korea to discuss a possible use of this technology in the iPad 3 tablet. According to the same publications, reaching an agreement with Samsung is a priority for Tim Cook, but for me it is hard to believe. Apple is in a legal dispute with Samsung at the moment due to patent infringement and I find it hard to believe that they will conclude such an agreement even though they are still working together.

Apple wants to tap into Samsung's AMOLED technology for an upgraded version of the iPad2, considered as much as the iPad3 that is likely to be launched towards the end of this year. During Cook's trip last week, Apple seems to have offered Samsung an advance for the AMOLED displays.

On the other hand, it is equally hard to believe that Apple would like to use AMOLED technology considering that the screens in iDevices are very good from a qualitative point of view. The publication from South Korea claims that the iPad 3 will be available in 2011, but this will not happen in any way considering that the iPad 2 is extremely popular, it sells very well and there is no reason to have a replacement now . From my point of view this rumor is completely unfounded.
