Safari for iOS may allow the use of add-ons

Addons extend the functionality of a web browser allowing us to perform actions that would normally be impossible. Firefox allows the use of add-ons, Chrome/Opera as well, and Safari has had extensions implemented since last July. Extensions are like addons, but they are only available in the desktop version of Safari, but it seems that they will also arrive in the version for mobile terminals. The screenshot above firewall to have been made on the iPad version of a beta version of iOS 5 and there we have an extension called Safari File Downloader that would most likely allow us to download files directly to our terminals.

Of course, it's a long way from a screenshot to something real, but I for one would be extremely happy if Apple would allow the use of extensions for Safari for iOS. I'm sure that if this were allowed then many extensions would be available and Safari would turn into a very useful browser, especially on the iPad tablet. However, for now we are only talking about rumors, but the idea itself is extremely interesting.
