Google launched a new service called PhotoVine the other day and using it we can share our own pictures with all our friends and more. Basically, Photovine wants to be a kind of social network for pictures where users upload pictures based on certain keywords or topics. Google emphasizes the idea of "vines" (in free translation vita de vie), that is, a concept by which the pictures uploaded by us encourage others to upload similar pictures on the same idea, forming links between them.

A vine is like a constantly growing family of photos connected through a common caption created by you, your friends, and people all over the world. Some examples of vines could be: "What Weekends Are Made Of", "Secret Stuffed Animal", "Party People", or, "Love of My Life".

Start a vine by taking a photo and creating a new caption, or add to an existing vine. Other people will see your vine and join in by adding their own photo, showing their own take on the caption.

Some say that Google would like to compete with the famous Instagram service through Photovine, but for now everything that Google offers is only available to beta testers. Access to Photovine is based on an invitation that you can request from here and as soon as you receive it, you will be able to install an application through which you will be able to upload photos to Photovine. The concept is interesting and will definitely catch on with the Americans, but it may not be so successful with us or other European countries.
