Apple could deliver 86.4 million iPhone terminals in 2011, it could surpass Nokia

The last fiscal quarter of the Apple company was the most profitable in history and not only from a financial point of view but also from an image point of view because the company from Cupertino was declared the largest smartphone producer in the world. Although there are more than 3 months until the end of the year, analysts estimate that Apple could deliver 86.4 million smartphones, beating for the first time in the history of the Nokia company in terms of the number of smartphones produced in a year.

Apple's smartphone shipments are projected to top 86.4 million units in 2011, up 82% from 47.5 million units in 2010. In contrast, Nokia's smartphone shipments in 2011 will decline to 74.4 million units from over 100 million in 2010, said Luke Lin, analyst for Digitimes Research.

Last year, Apple delivered almost 48 million smartphones, but this year the figure would double and give the company from Cupertino the title of the largest smartphone manufacturer of 2011. The growth recorded by the company from Cupertino is impressive, but we are talking about an estimate so that in the end the number of terminals delivered could be lower or higher and everything depends on the iPhone 5 terminal that will be released soon. 4 years ago, Apple launched the first smartphone developed in-house and now it gets to collect half of the profit of the entire mobile phone industry and is the largest smartphone manufacturer.
