Notifications Center - how the new iOS 5 notification system works

Notifications Center is one of the most important features of iOS 5 because it completely changes the way notifications are displayed for our iDevices. Apple's notification center was specially designed to give us the opportunity to choose how we want the notifications to be displayed, but also to have a menu in which we can list all the recently received notifications. The notification center is accessed by swyping from top to bottom on the screen and while you swype you will pull down the entire menu where you have displayed the last messages received by you through notifications.

Notice in the image above that we have 2 widgets displayed for the stock market and the weather, but these widgets can be removed from the list or their position can be changed using the edit option from the Notifications menu in the Settings application. Under them we have the notifications received from the iDevice.ro application, but if you have calls, messages, or other notifications, they will all be displayed in the same list. It doesn't matter which application the notifications come from, they will be displayed there, with Apple displaying absolutely all notifications from any application that has the push notification system active. I find the new Notifications Center extremely useful and honestly I'm sorry that Apple didn't implement it at least a year ago.

Regarding the settings, unfortunately there is no option to close the notifications for applications, as we could do in iOS 4, but we have to individually close the notifications for each application. In the Settings application we have a special menu for the Notifications Center from where we can manage the options for each individual application. In this menu, there is the possibility not to show unblocked notifications in the Notifications Center, to set how many notifications are displayed in the Notifications Center: 5, 10, 15, the option to disable sounds/badges for applications and the possibility to activate/deactivate displaying notifications in the Lockscreen. Perhaps the most interesting option is the one that allows us to select the way we want the notifications to be displayed. We can choose for the notifications to be displayed exactly as before, that is, through a message in the middle of the screen (Alerts option), but there is the option to display the notifications in a small bar displayed under the status bar (the Banners option) or there is the option to do not display notifications at all (None option).

In each application we can set predefined options for how our notifications appear, so you can choose for each application how your notifications will be displayed. I really like the new notification system, I'm sure you will be very happy with it too. It is important to remember that these notifications are not limited to PUSH ones, but to any notification made in our iOS, whether it is a message or a received call.
