Eric Schmidt recognizes Carrier IQ as a keylogger in Android

Carrier IQ is the company that helped install a software in iDevices, Android terminals, Nokia or Blackberry terminals that allowed manufacturers and mobile phone operators to monitor the activity of users on their own devices. On Android there is the biggest problem because Carrier IQ works as a keylogger and monitors every letter typed by users. Although some did not want to admit it, Eric Schmidt, the chairman of the board of directors of Google, recognized that the Carrier IQ software is an "unacceptable program".

But he made it clear that Google does not approve of Carrier IQ's methods. Its software is pre-installed and collects data in the background to report back to operators. Users are unable to disable it without completely wiping their smartphone. "We certainly don't work with them," said Mr Schmidt, describing the software as a "keylogger". "And we certainly don't support it," he told an audience of journalists, government officials and democracy activists.

Although Eric Schmidt recognizes the fact that this Carrier IQ is not beneficial for users, he claims that Google did not have any interference in its implementation in mobile terminals. Moreover, Eric Schmidt claims that this software managed to be implemented in Android OS because we are talking about an open platform and the Google company would have had no way to stop this. Fortunately, all manufacturers will remove this software from all terminals that have iOS and Android OS installed, but unfortunately it was necessary for everything to become public before this could happen.
