WhatsApp Messenger blocked in Syria due to riots

WhatsAppMessenger is one of the most popular messaging applications in the world, with billions of messages being sent daily by users through the company's servers. Unfortunately, the government of Syria took the decision to ban access to the servers of the company developing the application, and all because the users were organizing demonstrations with its help. Syria is currently in the middle of a civil war and social networks have been used by people to organize themselves in order to support anti-government demonstrations, but their access to them through the Internet is blocked.

This is not the first time that such things happen with mass media and this proves how popular the application is. In Romania, WhatsAppMessenger has been in first place for several months in the top of the most purchased applications and this does not seem to change in the near future.
