The iPhone 5 would have a case made of "liquid metal" and would be launched in June at WWDC 2012

After the release of the iPhone 4, Apple acquired the rights to some technologies related to "liquid metals" and it was rumored last year that the iPhone 4S would have a case built using these technologies. If last year most of the rumors did not come true, well here they are again this year and a publication from South Korea says that Apple will build an iPhone 5 with a case made using "liquid metal". Apple would have taken this decision because the respective technology would allow the manufacture of a thinner and lighter case that is as resistant to impact as the current iPhone 4/4S case.

According to industry sources, the next flagship phones of [Apple and Samsung] are expected to adopt unprecedented materials for their main bodies, that is, ceramic for the Galaxy S3 and liquid metal for iPhone5, both being thin, light and highly resistant to external impacts. The new phase of the rivalry is because neither one of them can get a decisive edge over the other solely with its OS and AP specifications, features or design.

Leaving aside the "liquid metal" case, the Korean publication claims that the iPhone 5 will be launched at WWDC in June, but unfortunately this seems unlikely. Apple has not presented the new iOS 6 to the whole world and has no way to launch a new iPhone model using an old version of iOS, so without iOS 6 the terminal will not be launched. The implementation of the previously mentioned technology does not seem likely either, but it is not known what prototypes Apple is currently testing.
