Digi Anywhere – a text messaging and VoIP calling service for smartphones

RCS & RDS prepares to launch an application called Digi Anywhere that will basically work like iMessage, WhatsApp Messenger, Viber or any other applications of this kind. It seems that the operator intends to launch the application in the App Store, Google Play, Windows Marketplace, etc., and with its help is trying to convince Romanians to use a local software to chat with each other via text/phone messages. I don't know how many people will convince the company to give up the much more popular services, but the initiative deserves praise.

The service will be called Digi Anywhere. The software application will be available for terminals running on Android, iOS (Apple) and Microsoft Windows Mobile, so that any user, regardless of the network he is in, if he has access to the Internet on his smartphone from any network, can communicate unlimitedly with any another user of our application. In addition to similar applications, we offer RSC&RDS users, through their mobile phone customer account, to call any destination, using the same tariff plan and the same subscription. If they are roaming and have access to the Internet via Wi-Fi, customers can call, using the same phone number, via VoIP, and benefiting from local rates.

The Digi Net Mobile service is used by over 500.000 customers, up from 320.000 in June 2011 out of a total of 970.000, according to ANCOM data.
