Adobe blocks the installation of Flash in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Last year Adobe announced that he will stop developing the version for mobile terminals of the Flash plugin, but the coup de grace comes only in August. During the last evening those from Adobe announced that starting on August 15, they will block the possibility of installing the Flash plugin on terminals that have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean installed. Adobe says that it has not tested flash with the latest version of Android and to protect users it chooses not to allow the installation of the plugin on terminals that have the latest version of the operating system.

Beginning August 15th we will use the configuration settings in the Google Play Store to limit continued access to Flash Player updates to only those devices that have Flash Player already installed. Devices that do not have Flash Player already installed are increasingly likely to be incompatible with Flash Player and will no longer be able to install it from the Google Play Store after August 15th.

If it wasn't already clear to everyone that flash is dead for mobile terminals, this announcement should be convincing enough. Webmasters must switch in the near future from flash to HTML 5, or other technologies, to ensure that users can view their content without problems. In the end, Steve Jobs won, being firmly against the use of flash on mobile terminals.
