China generates a fifth of App Store downloads

China is one of the most important markets for Apple and accounts for nearly a fifth of global App Store downloads are generated by this country. They are 10% lower than those generated only by the US, but they are higher than those generated by any other country where Apple has an open App Store. Considering that approximately 1 billion monthly downloads are made from Apple's App Store, approximately 180 million come from China and 280 million are generated in the US, the two countries amounting to almost half of all downloads made from the App Store.

Although China generates a lot of downloads, when it comes to revenue, the country does not do very well because it generates only 3% of the total revenue recorded by Apple. The US generates 42% and remains the most important country for Apple, so it is understandable why the majority of important functions are first implemented there.
