RCS & RDS is preparing to participate in the auction regarding the 4G networks in Romania

RCS & RDS, one of the largest domestic companies and one of the Romanian mobile operators, she's getting ready to participate in the auction that the Romanian Government will organize for 4G LTE networks. It seems that those from RCS & RDS would have already borrowed 25 million euros from a Romanian bank, the amount that would be necessary for the registration in the auction. All those interested must send a letter of guarantee that includes half of the starting price of the frequencies for which they are bidding, and in the case of RDS we are talking about a starting price of 50 million euros.

RCS&RDS, one of the largest telecom operators in Romania, controlled by businessman Zoltan Teszari from Oradea, contracted on August 9 a loan from Citibank Romania, most likely to be able to participate in the radio spectrum auction organized next month by National Communications Regulatory Authority (ANCOM). "RCS&RDS and Citibank (...) estimate that the amount for which this mortgage is established is 25 million euros, representing the maximum amount of the facility, to which is added the interest and any other costs and expenses due", according to the cited document.

We already knew that Orange, Vodafone and RDS will participate in this auction, it is not known yet if the Cosmote operator will participate, but the future is promising on the mobile phone market in Romania. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that the iPhone 5 will be compatible with the 4G LTE networks in Romania, but the operators estimate that only in 2014 they will be able to offer the public access to them.
