iOS and Android OS are expanding faster than the Internet, at least 640 million smartphones use these operating systems

iOS si Android OS are the most popular operating systems for mobile terminals, and recently it was found that they exceeded by far the adoption rate of any other technology launched so far on the globe. In practice, the adoption rate of iOS and Android OS is 10 times higher than that of PCs, from the 80s, 2 times higher than the adoption rate of the Internet, from the 90s, but also 3 times higher than the adoption rate of social networks.

The rate of iOS and Android device adoption has surpassed that of any consumer technology in history. Compared to recent technologies, smart device adoption is being adopted 10X faster than that of the 80s PC revolution, 2X faster than that of the 90s Internet Boom and 3X faster than that of recent social network adoption. Five years into the smart device growth curve, expansion of this new technology is rapidly expanding beyond early adopter markets such as North America and Western Europe, creating a true worldwide addressable market. Overall, Flurry estimates that there were over 640 million iOS and Android devices in use during the month of July 2012.

In July, it was discovered that 640 million smartphones with iOS and Android OS are used globally, most of them being active in the USA, with China in second place. These data were calculated based on the use of the Internet on mobile terminals running these operating systems, so the real figures are somewhat higher because not all owners use the Internet on their own smartphones. Even so, we are talking about a very high adoption rate that doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon.
