25% of Americans own a tablet

A recent study done in the USA should make us understand that 25% of Americans own a tablet, 52% of them being iPad tablets, the remaining 48% being Android tablets. The study it ended in June of this year, so it's old, it doesn't take into account the launch of Google Nexus 7 or Android Kindle Fire HD, but that's not where its importance lies. The important thing is that in just one year, the iPad tablet would have lost 29% of its market share in the US, and this is not because people stopped buying iPad tablets, but because a lot of people also bought Android tablets.

The evolution of Android tablets is amazing and I hope that the study is true, because Apple sees that in the most important market it has a very tough battle with Android tablet manufacturers, and this requires it to innovate even more. Leaving tablets aside, I will tell you that in the US 46% of smartphones run Android OS, 38% are iPhones, BlackBerry fell to a market share of only 10%, the rest being divided between Windows Phone, Symbian and the rest of the operating systems for mobile phones.

Apple is winning in the field of smartphones, but is starting to lose in the field of tablets, but things will probably change radically when the iPad 4 hits the market.
