In the iPad Mini Apple would have used a technology called GF 2 that allowed the development of such a thin product, and for iPad 5th generation analysts speculate that Apple could use exactly the same technology.
You are probably wondering why Apple would rush to bring so many devices to the market, and the analysts answer your question by bringing up the Microsoft Surface tablet. It along with other competing tablets will arrive on the market in the next few weeks, Apple would like to maintain the supremacy of the iPad with a new model that would theoretically be better from many points of view, but for now these are just speculations. It would not be out of the question for Apple to launch a new version of the iPad in March, especially since yesterday's update is not extremely important, but if such a launch were to happen, a lot of people would be very upset.
