Apple has a patent for rectangular tablets that have rounded corners

In the US, many people said that Apple does not have a patent for a rectangular device with round corners, and they were wrong. Apple company was granted to him recently a new patent for the ornamental design of the iPad tablet and it basically protects mobile devices with a rectangular shape and round corners. Apple also has patents that cover similar design elements, but the latter will not help the company in legal battles with Android terminal manufacturers, considering that most of them have tried to diversify the design of their own products.

On Tuesday, after review by a patent examiner, the United States Patent and Trademark Office awarded Apple an additional design patent relating to the iPad's "ornamental" design. The ornamental design feature encapsulated in US Patent D607,286 for a "Portable display device" appears to be a literal rounded rectangle. But whether or not this patent would be useful against Apple's rival and alleged "copy cat" Samsung in court is unclear.

Although from a logical point of view it seems hard to believe that Apple managed to patent something like this in the USA, in the end anything is possible there, but if the patent had been granted to him a year ago, he would have been with really useful, considering that at the moment only Samsung has products that take over the design elements of iDevices.
