Apple and the worst ads of 2012

Those from the Wall Street Journal did a top of the best and worst ads of 2012, and Apple was included in the second category. Many people said that the advertising spots made in 2012 for the company from Cupertino were not as good as those made in previous years, but of all only a few stood out in an unpleasant way. I'm talking about the commercials run by Apple during the London Olympics, commercials in which the company tries to promote Macs and the Genius Bar in its stores, but it only succeeded in making fun of itself.

The ads fell short of Apple's usual ability to entertain the audience. BlueFin Labs, a firm that tracks consumer comments on social media, said comments about the ads were 3.4 times more negative than positive. The ads were eventually pulled because they weren't well-received and unlike other Apple ads oversold the company's services, according to a person familiar with the matter. Apple declined to comment.

Although Apple ran them for a short time on televisions, most users argued that they too aggressively promote Apple services that are not really that great, and the whole scenario is far from what Apple is used to. Unfortunately, the way the commercials were designed did more harm than good to Apple, but probably from this failure, the company will learn something and do great things in 2013.
