Users who have smartphones with large screens spend more money on games

The screen size of a mobile terminal undoubtedly influences the way that device is used, and a recent study reveals the fact that smartphones with large screens encourage users to spend more money on games. In the case of iPhones, terminal owners iPhone 5 spend 4 times more money on games than owners of iPhones with smaller screens, and on Android terminals those with large screens spend 10 times more money through in-app purchases than gamers with small screens.

At least that's the conclusion of a new study run by mobile games studio Pocket Gems. The study compared different generations of iPhones, iPads and Android phones against how much their owners were buying within individual games' stores. It found that higher-resolution screens correlated with more money spent in games for both phone operating systems, but not for the iPads.

Although this conclusion was quite normal, it is not respected in the case of iPad tablets, where the iPad Mini has a very small advantage over the owners of iPad tablets with 9.7 inch screens. Practically, in the case of smartphones, the screen is very important to generate large sales through in-app purchases, but in the case of tablets, the same trend does not follow.
