In Russia, Apple requested to register the name iWatch as a trademark

iWatch is probably the most anticipated smartwatch of the year, and a Russian website claims that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), would have submitted an application for registration as a trademark of the name possible or smart watch. Without providing any link to the website of the Russian patent and trademark office, for now we are only talking about a rumor that comes from an uncertain source, but it should still be taken into account. The same website claims that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), requested the registration of the name as a trademark since December 2012 iWatch in Jamaica and Trinidad Tobago, something we are now learning for the first time.

Apple has a habit of registering trademarks for products many years before their release, with the company starting to register the name iPad since 2006, four years before the launch of the tablet on the market. Apple registers the names with subsidiary companies, so we won't see one registered directly in their name no matter where we look. Although it is not known how true this information is, it would not be surprising if Apple starts to register the name from now on, even if it will never launch in the iWatch.
