Apple is testing iPhones with screens larger than 4 inches and iPad tablets with screens of 13 inches

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), tests, together with its partners, iPhonewith screens larger than 4 inches, but also tablets iPad with screens that have a diagonal close to 13 inches. American company test these products for years to see if their release would help it attract a large number of consumers, but so far it has not managed to produce any version of them that is worth releasing on the market. Apple is exploring new options also because manufacturers like Samsung have had great success with smartphones that have diagonals of up to 6 inches and part of the current owners of iDevices demand the same.

In recent months, Apple has asked for prototype smartphone screens larger than 4 inches and has also asked for screen designs for a new tablet device measuring slightly less than 13 inches diagonally, they said. Whether either design will make their way to market is unclear. The Cupertino, Calif., company routinely tests different designs for its products as it refines them during development. The company also changed its offerings of the iPhone and iPod last year to include larger screens, while adding a variant of the iPad with a smaller display.

Before the launch of the iPad, Apple tested screens of various sizes for its tablets and only last year decided to bring to the market the iPad Mini with a 7.9-inch screen. The tests done by Apple for products with this kind of screens could result in the release of iDevices with large diagonal screens in the future, but you shouldn't get your hopes up for now. Depending on the evolution of the market, Apple will make the decision to continue or finish the development of these prototypes, and if in a few years the trends will change, we will never see them.
