Microsoft Office for iPad is under development at Microsoft according to Steve Ballmer

Microsoft Office for iPad and Android tablets is in the process of development within Microsoft, at least that he made it clear Steve Ballmer, the company's CEO, during a conference to present the company's financial results. Of course, Ballmer did not directly state that applications Microsoft Office for iPad and Android tablets are currently being developed, but he gave examples of Microsoft services that have applications for iOS and Android OS and stated that this is the direction in which the company he leads is heading.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer hinted that the company is working on a version of Office for the iPad and for Android tablets when he addressed Wall Street analysts on Thursday. To be sure, Ballmer didn't refer specifically to Office for iOS and Android, but it seemed clear that this is what he had in mind, since this issue has been a constant source of criticism for the company, which is leaving a lot of money on the table by not offering full, native versions of Office for the Apple and Google mobile OSes.

Microsoft Office for iPhone is already available in the App Store and used by many Microsoft customers, the application requiring a subscription to be used with Microsoft Office 365. The problem is that tablets are much more popular than smartphones, and ignoring lor would not be a good decision for Microsoft, the company being aware of this, actively working on versions dedicated to popular tablets available on the market.
