Q4 2013 fails to strengthen Apple's position on the tablet market

For more than 4 fiscal quarters the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is constantly losing significant percentages of its market share in the global tablet market, and Q4 2013 did not help in any way. Although it sold 26 million tablets in the last 3 months, the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), lost almost 5 percent of its market share on the global tablet market, these percentages going straight to the company Samsung. As you can already see from the image above, Samsung almost doubled its sales of tablets in the last 3 months, its growth not being, strictly in percentage terms, as high as that of Lenovo.

Apple once again led the worldwide market for tablets, shipping 26 million units during the quarter, up from 14.1 million the previous quarter and 22.9 million in 4Q12. While the quarter represented the company's most successful on record, its year-over-year growth of 13.5% was well below the industry average. The numbers bring into focus the challenges the company faces as it attempts to grow its tablet business in markets outside of its traditional mature-market strongholds and in the face of continued success from competitors both large and small.

On the other side of the barricade we have the company Amazon which sold 100.000 tablets less than in the same period last year, its market share falling by 2.3% in just one year. in total, 16.9 million units were sold more than in the same period of 2012, Samsung accounting for almost half of this increase, the rest going to Asus, Lenovo and other manufacturers. Before concluding, it is worth mentioning the fact that Samsung does NOT disclose sales figures for tablets, and those in the table represent only analysts' assumptions.
