Facebook Highlights is being tested by Facebook in a new version of the App Store application

Facebook recently updated the app available in App Store for all iDevice owners, mentioning in his changelog that he only solved a series of performance problems present in the title. In reality, Facebook implemented in its application a new function called Highlights, it being available in the People section of the application. option Highlights is available for a small number of users and offers a summary of the most important events in the lives of our friends and family members, only the most important events being presented.

After that is the most interesting part of Highlights: a list of recent Life Events from friends such as a new romantic relationship, starting a job, moving, graduating, or anything posted through the Life Events creator. If you don't care about seeing the BuzzFeed articles and random photos your friends fill the News Feed with, this part of Highlights could give you a quick way to catch up with important milestones in friends' lives. Beyond Life Events is Friends With Upcoming Birthdays so you can plan to actually send them a heartfelt message instead of a shallow "HBD!" wall post. Then there's People You've Contacted, which is quite similar to the History tab. And finally there's a seemingly endless list of People You May Know.

Considering that the new function is available for a limited number of users, it is clear that Facebook is going to offer it globally in the coming months, if all the tests are successful. Even if you update the Facebook application to include this new version, there is little chance that the Highlights section will be available, Facebook having the habit of offering new functions only in countries with very high activity.
