Half of Orange customers use smartphones

Orange Romania logoOrange Romania is one of the largest mobile phone operators in the country, and according to the information provided by the company's commercial director, more than half of its customers use smartphones to use the services.

According to Julien Ducarroz, commercial director of Orange Romania, although more than half of Orange customers use smartphones, the demand for this type of mobile terminals remains high, generating an increase in mobile internet consumption in our country.

Despite the large number of users, the tablet and smartphone market will continue to grow in 2015, according to the Orange director, but we are talking about a global trend that keeps smartphone sales at a high level, even in developed markets.

According to Julien Ducarroz, the main sources of growth for smartphone sales are people who do not yet have a smartphone and those who are changing them, but this information was logical for everyone, it is much more interesting to find out which of the two segments generates the biggest sales.

The tablet and smartphone market will continue to grow this year. Today over half of our customer base has a smartphone. We still have growth potential. The question of whether the total volume of the local market will continue to grow has a clear answer, I can bet that there will be growth, which will be generated by two main sources: people who do not have a smartphone - who buy one and those who have one, but change it.

Considering that more than 60% of the approximately 4 million mobile phones sold in Romania leave the stores of mobile phone operators, it is clear that the evolution of the market in our country depends mainly on the three big telecom companies in our country.

Orange has the largest 4G coverage in our country and probably the largest sales of 4G smartphones in Romania, but unfortunately we do not know exact figures for the number of smartphone users, total sales, etc., the secretomania being taken over by everyone the big operators in the country.
