Opera promises to increase the autonomy of your laptop

Opera promises to increase laptop battery life by 50%.

Opera announced last evening the launch of a new function for the popular browser available to users all over the world, users will benefit from a module called power saving, which has the role of increasing the battery autonomy of laptops.

Available for now only in beta versions of the browser Opera, the new function should offer up to 50% more autonomy for the battery of users' laptops, this compared to Google Chrome and not to the standard autonomy.

Practically, Opera claims that its browser consumes 50% less battery power than Google Chrome, and the new power saving mode is automatically activated when the laptop is disconnected from a power source that charges the battery.

In order to reduce energy consumption, those at Opera had to first reduce the consumption of resources, so that the tabs will not need as much RAM memory, the playback of video clips has also been improved as part of the implementation of the function .

To get these results, the company used a Lenovo X250 laptop and ran a script that opened 11 popular websites, made 5 page scrolls and kept them open for 1 minute each before closing the tab. ul, the process being repeated until the battery was exhausted.

The test is not really that scientific and cannot be considered extremely accurate, so it remains for everyone to find out if the new function of Opera is really as good as the company claims.
