According to the American publication, the Apple Neural Engine is meant to be a dedicated chip in the iPhone, iPad and other Apple products, taking over all the functions based on artificial intelligence in iOS, watchOS, tvOS and more.
The Apple Neural Engine will allow the Apple company to implement facial recognition functions, voice recognition, but also functions for augmented reality. Using a dedicated chip like the Apple Neural Engine to take over these functions will allow Apple to substantially improve the battery life of its products.
Reducing energy consumption and improving autonomy thanks to the Apple Neural Engine will be possible because this new chip will take over all the artificial intelligence functions from the main processor. This could also lead to an improvement in the general performance of Apple's products, especially the iPhone and iPad, which have many functions based on artificial intelligence now.
Until now, the Apple company has tested with the Apple Neural Engine the taking over of the face recognition function from the Photos application, the voice recognition made by Siri and the predictive writing system of the keyboard. Apple Neural Engine will help Apple to develop its artificial intelligence systems over time, but for now it is not known when it will be launched.
