Sony Europe has announced that users can now access the Apple TV app on select Sony smart TV models to enjoy Apple TV+, Apple TV channels, the latest and most popular movies and personalized recommendations. The Apple TV app became available in Europe on Sony's XH90 series on October 14 via a software update, and will soon be released in more than 100 other countries and regions.
The Apple TV app brings together all the ways to watch shows and movies in one place. The app includes Apple TV+, Apple's new video subscription service that offers original series, movies and documentaries from the world's most creative content creators, including "The Morning Show," "See," "Defending Jacob," " Ted Lasso', 'Greyhound', 'The Banker', 'Boys State', and 'Beastie Boys Story'. Also, with the Apple TV app, users can subscribe to Apple TV channels and enjoy ad-free on-demand content directly through the Apple app. In addition, with Family Sharing, subscriptions to Apple TV channels can be shared by up to six family members using their personal Apple ID and password.
Sony's Smart TVs give users easy access to a wide range of content and services. Thanks to the best-in-class X1 processor family, TRILUMINOS™ display and immersive sound features, customers can experience content exactly as the creator intended through the Apple TV app. Sony smart TV users can browse through the Apple TV app to buy or rent over 100.000 movies and TV shows, including titles available in 4K HDR resolution and Dolby Atmos compatible, as well as enjoy personalized and curated recommendations and they can also access Apple's library of purchased movies and TV shows. Selected models of Sony TVs supports AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. With AirPlay 2, users can easily play videos and other content from their iPhone, iPad or Mac devices directly to their smart TV. HomeKit provides an easy and secure way for users to control Sony smart TVs through the Home app or by activating Siri on Apple devices.
Customers can subscribe to Apple TV+ in the Apple TV app on Sony smart TVs, but also on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac and other platforms, including at tv.apple.com, for €4.99/£ 4.99 per month. For a limited time, customers who purchase a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch or Mac device can enjoy Apple TV+ for free for a period of one year.
