RO-ALERT will be used by the Romanian authorities to notify Romanians about the severe weather phenomena that will hit our country, and that will create problems for those who are in their path, or who will reach areas in which they manifest.

RO-ALERT was created to alert Romanians about any kind of events that may endanger their lives, and meteorological events are among the events mentioned from the very beginning as ones for which alerts can be sent to phones.

Marcel Vela made this announcement following a videoconference that took place today with prefects from all over Romania, the purpose being to notify Romanians about any kind of extreme weather phenomena that could take place this winter.

"During the meeting, in the videoconference system, I contacted all the prefects at the national level, and each prefect presented the stage of preparation, but also the necessary technique, equipment, human resources, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a preventive and warning measure, we have established that citizens will be notified through the RO-ALERT system of every special situation triggered by severe weather, depending on the area of ​​manifestation."
