WhatsApp: ATTENTION! Attack Method for Stealing Accounts

WhatsApp operation

This spring, WhatsApp returned to the attention of hackers from all over the world, and this is because more and more attacks are directed against users from all over the world, and the problems are extremely serious. More precisely, an attack method against WhatsApp users, separate from the one we talked about the other day, has been revealed, and this one has in mind a somewhat more personal attack than the other two that we presented to you.

WhatsApp has its users targeted by another type of attack today which involves a friend's account that has already been compromised by hackers, it being used to attack other people to steal their accounts. The victims receive a message from WhatsApp with an activation code to use their account on another phone, but they don't know this, but they are contacted by the attacker, through the compromised account of a contact, and they are asked for that code.

WhatsApp: ATTENTION! Attack Method for Stealing Accounts

WhatsApp sends account authentication codes to be used on one or another phone, and the attackers assume the identity of a contact of the victim targeted by the attack, and ask them to give them the code received on the phone. When the hacker receives the activation code sent by WhatsApp on the victim's phone, he logs in with it on his own phone, and thus has access to the victim's account, moving on with the attack to steal other accounts as well.

WhatsApp has its security systems used against users, and only those who do not have the two-step authentication system activated have their accounts stolen by hackers. The biggest problem is that people do not know when an attack of this kind targets them, and many end up having their accounts stolen by the attackers without knowing, and of course without knowing how to ask for help or block the account, because and this is possible on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp has tried to help people learn how to protect themselves, but unfortunately people are not always alert enough to realize what they are facing.
