Romania: School Rules in the Case of Classroom Infections

The Ministries of Education and Health have announced the decision regarding the conduct of classes when one of the students is found to be infected with the Coronavirus, the conditions for the conduct of classes being modified.

Based on the new rules that could be imposed in Romania, in these situations, vaccinated students will be able to attend classes at school, while unvaccinated students will take classes exclusively online.

"In this situation, all his colleagues will have to be tested. The rule at the moment is: when an illness occurs in a class, the whole class goes online. If all the colleagues will agree to be tested, then the school could continue with physical presence - it could, I emphasize, it is not a decision yet - for the students who are vaccinated, the unvaccinated ones will go to the online system. It is a working variant.

Regarding physical education classes, I agreed, at this moment - the final decision will be taken, as I said, together with the minister, subject to CNSU validation -, that physical education classes can be held in closed spaces, without protective mask, up to the infection rate of two per thousand; above this rate, to be able to be performed outside, in the free spaces or, if they cannot be performed, for weather reasons, for example, then these sports activities should be replaced.

The general idea is that we agreed on the inappropriateness of mandatory protective masks in physical education classes and in other situations; for special education, for example, the obligation to wear a protective mask is waived, but the recommendation remains where possible."
