The Government of Romania Announced Measures for the 4th Wave of Infections

The Romanian government announced a series of measures that are being taken in full wave 4 of infections to strengthen the medical system in Romania in the face of an explosion of new cases throughout the country, and now new measures are being taken to ensure that hospitals will be able to treat the people.

"Mr. Arafat, you know very well that we asked, immediately after the third wave, not to reduce the ability to respond in case of a new wave. I have said every time that the number of ICU beds intended for COVID should not be reduced. I noticed that things have changed. I would like to see how this wave four was prepared and how quickly we can increase the number of beds at ATI for the COVID ward.

I, so far, have seen that they have increased from 848 beds to 1.131. I appreciate the involvement of Minister Cseke, I also appreciate your involvement, but you know very well that it cannot be done without the involvement of the local authorities, the DSPs and the entire medical staff. I know there is this discussion about increasing the number of beds in the COVID wards, but we also need seconded medical staff where appropriate.

It is necessary, Mr. Arafat, that you also work, that you get involved a lot, so that we can quickly operationalize beds and so on. But another front that we use and that I see is not working yet and must work, is that of the hospitals subordinated to the Capital City Hall. I want more involvement here from the Capital City Hall and I also want a situation in the coming hours, let's see how the hospitals got involved, how the Capital City Hall and the hospitals subordinate to the Capital City Hall are involved in this fourth wave, because not all hospitals, you know very well, they belong to the Ministry of Health, or in other words, it is not always a decision of the Minister of Health."
