DSU Romania: How Integrated SMURD and Salaj Ambulance Service Work

DSU Romania How Integrated SMURD and Salaj Ambulance Service Work

DSU Romania presents how the Salaj Ambulance Service and SMURD work in an integrated way to save the lives of Romanians, all part of the campaign to present how the emergency services work in an integrated way for the good of the people.

"Another example that further reinforces the idea that only together, through the joint and integrated efforts of the emergency services under the coordination of the DSU, we can save lives happened today, in Sălaj county.

On Wednesday morning, through a call to 112, the Sălaj integrated dispatch unit, which brings together personnel from the ISU and the Sălaj County Ambulance Service, was notified for the deployment of resources for emergency intervention in a serious medical case in the town of Valcău de Jos.

Immediately, the SMURD crew from the Nuşfalău Police Department went to the scene and found the victim (an elderly female person) in a coma.

In support, the SMURD helicopter from the Jibou Aeromedical Operation Point (POA) was requested. Once the patient was picked up, he was intubated by the doctor who served the SMURD helicopter, and was then assisted by him throughout the flight until the victim was handed over to the SAJ Sălaj ambulance.

Colleagues from the Ambulance safely transported the patient to UPU-SMURD Zalău for the continuation of the medical care that was required of him.

This case presented above gives the picture of what we call the integrated emergency system. With the joint efforts of doctors (SMURD and Ambulance), paramedics, pilots, ISU and SAJ dispatchers, respectively doctors and assistants from UPU-SMURD, all this joining of forces has only one goal, saving the lives of citizens."
