Sorin Cimpeanu: Last Minute Declaration, Important Measure of Digital Correction

Sorin Cimpeanu Declaration Last Moment Important Measure of Digital Correction

Sorin Cimpeanu spoke in a very important press statement about what happened in thousands of schools all over Romania, for over 122.000 students at the National Assessment from the point of view of the grades obtained by the students who participated in these tests carried out all over the country.

Sorin Cimpeanu explains below one of the very big advantages that the digital correction of works brought to Dimbovita county, and how a serious problem was discovered very quickly and was recorded, so it is not excluded to see it used including in other exams that will take place in Romania.

"This year's results, first of all, we had more candidates registered than in the years 2016 - 2021, with 24.000 more than last year. There were also more attendees than last year. From the perspective of averages above 5, we have plus 5% compared to last year averages above 5, we are talking about 122.000 students, so with 26.000 students more than last year.

Separated by tests, 5 students received marks above 128.000 in the Romanian language, and last year only 103.000, and in mathematics we have the biggest jump, of over 10% compared to last year, from 67.4% to 77.5%, it is it is about an increase from 83.000 students last year who had grades above 5, to 115.000 students this year.

I can guarantee you that the scale had a maximum breakdown of 1 point, 1 out of 100, any correct way of solving was scored, absolutely anything that was good from what the students did was scored. I have no emotions regarding the fairness and professionalism of the scale this year. I was minister last year as well, and I can tell you that the organization of the National Evaluation was much weaker than this year.

I don't have scale problems. I have different expectations regarding appeals. In Dimbovita county, where we had digital evaluation, only 7 works, out of almost 4.000, recorded differences greater than 1 point between evaluator 1 and evaluator 2, being digital correction, the system instantly noted differences greater than 1 point and - automatically redirected to other evaluators.

These things were able to be regulated in a manner as efficient as possible, it is an advantage of the digitized correction. We have a sign of concern because we have observed situations in which there were differences in evaluation on the part of the grid, on the grid component, which is inadmissible and cannot be accepted."
