OMS: Worrying announcement about the new BA.2.75 variant of the Omicron Strain

OMS Alarming Notice variant BA.2.75 Omicron strains

The WHO sends a worrying announcement regarding a new variant of the Omicron strain of the Coronavirus, the BA.2.75, which is currently under the supervision of the organization's researchers after it was initially discovered in India, and then reported by another 10 countries on glob, and this is because it has certain mutations discovered after sequencing.

The WHO through the voice of Dr. Soumya Swaminathan tells us that there is a small number of sequences done for this sub-variant of Omicron, but based on what has been done, it seems that BA.2.75 has mutations at the level of the spike protein receptors through which the virus attaches to human receptors and infects the body with the Coronavirus.

The WHO does not yet know if the BA.2.75 sub-variant of Omicron has the ability to evade the immune response more easily, or if it generates more severe cases of infection than the other sub-variants of the initial strain of the Coronavirus, so more sequencing is expected to know how dangerous it is, or not.

The WHO monitors very carefully any kind of sub-variants of Omicron, or of other strains of the Coronavirus that appear, but it complained because the number of sequencers is extremely low and that it cannot monitor with the same high efficiency as in the past, which could lead to the late discovery of some potentially dangerous ones.
