Coronavirus Romania New Number of New Cases July 20, 2022

The coronavirus in Romania started the 6th wave, according to a statement made yesterday by Alexandru Rafila, but with over 7.000 new cases announced yesterday, almost double compared to the same day last week, it was anyway quite clear that our country is full wave of infections, with a delay compared to other European countries.

The coronavirus is generating more and more infections in Romania, maintaining the estimated trend of almost doubling cases from one week to the next, and the positivity rate has also increased, remaining at over 30% of the tests performed, as happened including during yesterday, and the trend should continue in the next period.

The coronavirus should generate increases in the number of new cases of infection in Romania until mid-August, according to Alexandru Rafila, but that would mean that the peak of 10.000 new cases per day should be exceeded by far in August, but it remains to be seen how far it will go.

"In the last 24 hours, 6.779 new cases of people infected with SARS - CoV - 2 (COVID - 19) were registered, with 879 less than the previous day. 1.345 of the new cases in 24 hours are of reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.

Distinct from the newly confirmed cases, following retesting of patients who were already positive, 190 people were reconfirmed positive.

In specialized health units, the number of people hospitalized in wards with COVID-19 is 2.301, 97 more than the previous day. Also, 144 people are hospitalized at ATI, 8 more than the previous day. Of the 144 patients admitted to ATI, 122 are unvaccinated.

Out of the total number of admitted patients, 379 are minors, 376 being admitted to wards, 2 more than the previous day, and 3 to ATI, 2 more than the previous day.

Until today, 65.836 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died. Between 19.07.2022 (10:00) and 20.07.2022 (10:00) 12 deaths (8 men and 4 women) were reported by INSP, with no deaths reported before the reference interval.

Of the 12 deaths: 1 was registered in the age category 50-59 years, 2 in the age category 60-69 years, 4 in the age category 70-79 years and 5 in the age category over 80 years .”
