The European Union will Buy More Electricity from Ukraine

The European Union Buys a Lot of Ukraine's Electricity

The European Union will double its electricity imports from Ukraine in order to further reduce imports from Russia in the next period and get rid of the energy blackmail that the Russians are doing in the middle of the war, but this also depends on the ability of the Ukrainians to defend themselves power plants that produce energy.

The European Union has allowed Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova to synchronize with its electricity transmission infrastructure since the spring, and now it will finance even more the ability of Ukrainians to defend themselves through the purchase of electricity in the coming months.

"The EU will more than double electricity imports from Ukraine. As of July 30, the ENTSO-E association, which represents EU electricity transmission operators, allowed a 2,5-fold increase in the export of Ukrainian electricity, or 250 megawatts, to European countries.

"The EU is aware of the role of Ukrainian electricity in helping to replace Russia's toxic gas," said Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, head of the board of state electricity grid operator Ukrenergo.
