WhatsApp has a very important trick for iPhone and Android that few people know about, and that's because it's not easy to notice in normal use of the application. We are talking about a trick that has at its center the possibility of quickly seeing who mentioned us in a group conversation, without having to search among all the published messages.
WhatsApp has been rolling out this functionality for a while now to users around the world, so we're talking about something that's been available to a lot of people for a very long time. The problem with this trick is that the button that allows us to quickly see in a group conversation when someone mentioned us, only appears if there is a mention.
You can see in the image below what this special button looks like that exists in the WhatsApp interface that displays our messages from groups, but normally it is hidden. When someone mentions us in a group, using @, then this button will be automatically activated and displayed in the interface if we have not seen the message published by that person.
Quickly find out when you are mentioned in WhatsApp groups
WhatsApp displays this button exclusively in situations where there are several messages published in that conversation and we have not seen them, not even the one in which we are mentioned. The conditions regarding multiple messages and not reading the mention made by another person need to be met cumulatively for us to see the special button that takes us to it.
When we press that button, we will be directly shown the message in which we are mentioned, and if there are more, we will be directed to all of them in turn each time we press the button. If there are several mentions in the group conversations, we will also display an indicator with the number of mentions that we have not read.
WhatsApp implemented this functionality to help people who talk a lot in groups, and the trick is an extremely useful one. If the button for viewing mentions has never appeared in group conversations, then it means that no one has mentioned you, and that it will be displayed when someone decides to do so.
