The European Energy Crisis Announcement by Ursula Von der Leyen from Bucharest

The European energy crisis creates new opportunities to reduce dependence on Russia, and to create new alliances with partners capable of supplying the European continent with the energy it needs to operate, and at competitive prices, in relation to the current ones, and an important agreement to was signed today in Bucharest.

Ursula Von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, is present today in Bucharest for the signing of this agreement which aims to reduce the impact of the European energy crisis in the years to come, Romania being a central part of the whole plan which could substantially reduce energy costs for millions of Europeans.

The two shores of the Black Sea have never been closer. I am glad that the energy agreement between Romania, Hungary, Georgia and Azerbaijan places such a strong emphasis on renewable sources. Now we are building stronger electrical interconnections.

The Black Sea Electric Cable is a new transportation route full of opportunities. It could integrate Georgia into our electricity market and bring electricity to our neighbors in the Western Balkans, Moldova and, of course, Ukraine. Let's work together to make it a reality.
