The USA, through the voice of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, demands the arrest of Vladimir Putin if he arrives in one of the countries that are members of the treaty that led to the formation of the International Criminal Court, and this based on the arrest warrant issued by it for the president Russia in March 2023.
Anthony Blinken says, paradoxically, that he does not want to comment on what the US would do in such a situation, since the country whose secretary of state he is, is not a member of the International Criminal Court, implying that he does not would reach a similar situation in the case of Vladimir Putin, if he entered his territory.
"The European members of the ICC should arrest Putin if they visit him. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on March 22, as quoted by CNN, that any European state that is a member of the International Criminal Court (ICC) should arrest Russian dictator Vladimir Putin if he visits.
When asked if Putin would be detained if he traveled to the U.S., Blinken said he did not want to discuss that, adding that the U.S. is not a party to the court.
