iOS 17.1 Will Be Released for iPhone in the Course of This Day

iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, macOS Sonoma 14.1, tvOS 17.1, watchOS 10.1 are eagerly awaited by Apple customers right now, and the wait should end today. These updates are slated to roll out later today after several weeks of beta testing. According to tradition, Apple plans to release new software versions at 20:00 Romanian time.

Last week, the company distributed the release (RC) beta versions for all software updates. Apple usually tests RCs for about a week to make sure there are no major bugs that could affect the devices. This time, we also have a confirmation of the specific release date thanks to an update in France.

iOS 17.1 in France includes a feature to reduce the radiation level of iPhone 12 models when placed on a table or other surface. French regulatory group ANFR confirmed two weeks ago that it expects the iOS 17.1 update to be available "by October 24."

While iOS 17.1 won't bring the Journal app, it does include some useful new features. It offers the option to continue large AirDrop transfers over the Internet once initiated, so if you're sending files to someone, you can walk away while the transfer is in progress.

There are new options for adding Apple Music songs to favorites, options to keep the screen on in StandBy mode, and Screen Time should work better on different devices. Several bug fixes are also included, so if you've had issues with searching in the Messages app or stuck images on the new iPhone 15 models, you'll want to download the update as soon as possible.

For Apple Watch users, watchOS 10.1 will bring some of the best features. The update includes support for NameDrop for quickly sharing contact information with another person and adds the Double Tap feature on the latest models. Double Tap allows users to tap their index finger against their thumb to perform actions such as answering phone calls or displaying the Smart Stack.

macOS Sonoma 14.1 includes a few bug fixes, and if you own an original HomePod or a HomePod mini, you'll be pleased to know that HomePod 17.1 adds the Enhance Dialogue feature on those devices. When a HomePod is used as a speaker for Apple TV, the Enhance Dialogue feature reduces background noise and music when speaking so you can better hear what's being said.
