The Minister of the Environment, Mircea Fechet, participated in the World Water Day and the World Meteorology Day, which were marked by a large-scale event at the headquarters of the National Meteorological Administration, a symbol of our common commitment to a safer and more sustainable future .

The event brought together notable personalities from the Ministry of the Environment, including the distinguished secretaries of state, Ionuț Sorin Banciu and Chiru Dan Stefan, together with Sorin Lucaci, the general director of the Romanian National Water Administration, as well as prominent representatives of the Special Telecommunications Service, The "Gheorghe Ionescu-Sisesti" Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, the Institute of Geography of the Romanian Academy and the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management.

The Minister of the Environment says that at the center of the discussions, the theme chosen for this year, "Water for Peace", was not only a call for reflection, but also a rallying cry in the face of the devastating effects that conflicts can have on natural resources and the environment. Mircea Fechet, the Minister of the Environment, emphasized in his video message the critical importance of preserving an ecological balance, at a time when ecocide and the irreparable destruction of ecosystems and watercourses are unfortunately becoming more common, noting the tragedy at Nova Kahovka and its repercussions on the Black Sea.

Reflecting on the current situation, the minister paid tribute to the work of those from the National Hydrological Service and all those involved in the management of water resources and meteorology services. The close connection between the meteorological and hydrological services was highlighted as an outstanding example of effective collaboration essential for weather forecasts and hydrological warnings that protect lives and property.

At the end of the event, Minister Fechet reiterated Romania's commitment to work ceaselessly for the protection of the environment and natural resources, emphasizing the importance of international solidarity and cooperation in the face of global challenges.

World Water Day and World Meteorology Day remind us not only of the fragility of the world we live in, but also of the strength and hope we can find together, fighting for peace, environmental protection and common well-being.
