Apple left in iOS 4.1 a function very very useful for all iPhone 4 owners because it will allow us to check the signal strength depending on the area in which we are. Practically, this function will show us if the area we are in is an area with a strong signal or an area with a weak signal and thus we will know if the iPhone 4 terminal really has a weaker signal reception than the other iPhone models.
To activate this function, type the following code in the dial pad: *3001#12345#* and you will notice that the signal dashes will be replaced by some numbers that have the - sign in front of them. Now that you have activated the option, you probably want to know how to interpret the data above. Well, it's very simple, the higher the number, the weaker the signal, i.e. -100 represents an area with a weaker signal than -50. To return to the display with signal bars, you only have to press on the area where the numbers appear and the display will change.
I for one am glad that Apple gave us the opportunity to check the signal strength in this way, so we will be able to accurately compare the signal quality between several iPhone terminals.
As far as I remember, there was an option in sbsettings for this.
Yes, and it still is, but it requires a jailbreak for activation, and this is done without it.
@zaone if I missed it, did you update to 4.1? if so, can you check and tell us on the new setting how the signal drops when you touch the antennas?
it would be great to activate the digital signal on another iPhone to see if what Apple put in 4,1 for IP4 is for real or is it a calculation / intentional error...
This thing was working before, it's not something new in 4.1. I also use it on iPhone 3G with OS 3.1.3
It also works on 3G. I sent you a printscreen on Twitter
@bodoo69: I didn't update on iPhone 4 because I only have SHSH for 4.0.2/4.1, so I have no way to test there, and on iPhone 3GS it's useless to test.
Apple just now woke up... I've been using this function for a long time from system options in SBSettings 😀 it would be great if they also put the wifi number :))
@Alex: Apple didn't wake up now. *3001#12345#* works on any iPhone regardless of the OS version.
What's the matter, I have two iPhones in front of me, one 3GS 16GB with 4.0.1 - 05.13.04 on which the call does not work at all, and another 3GS 32GB with 3.1.3 - 05.12.01 on which it displays the menu after the call.
On iPhone 4 iOS 4.0.1 does not work and I do not have SBSettings installed.
I tested it on iPhone 4.1 4 and it works
I also tested the phase with uploading HD videos directly from the iPhone to YouTube and it works... very cool
I also confirm that it does not work on iPhone 4 with 4.0.1.
I tested it on 3GS and it works great:D
Yes, other of these secret codes are for the iPhone, such as those for Nokia?
that thing with *3001#123… works on 3G 3.1.3
instead, it's a bit crazy that it shows me full signal, and that thing varies, when -81, when -97 .. wtf..
On 3gs 05.13.04 it doesn't work!
There are such codes, but... I don't know them.
Zaone, sorry for asking the question here, I searched the site and didn't really find it or I didn't have the patience to search properly. Tell me too, please, how did you solve the microsim? My iPhone 4 just arrived from Italy and I have to "solve" the card and turn it into a microsim.
Thank you in advance.
I had a Micro-SIM card from Italy and I cut my Orange card after that, then I got one from an Orange Shop.
