Cei de la Universitatea din Utah au dorit sa compare sub un microscop ecranele terminalelor iPhone 4 si iPhone 5 pentru a vedea daca afirmatiile celor de la Apple privind imbunatatirea ecranului din iPhone 5 sunt adevarate. Rezultatele verificarii ecranelor le aveti in imaginea de mai jos si observati ca pixelii ecranului iPhone 5 au o culoare mai puternica, mai intensa, au o saturatie mai buna si sunt mai luminosi, lucruri pe care Apple le-a afirmat si se pare ca a avut dreptate. Totul se datoreaza faptului ca senzorii tactili au fost integrati in ecran si nu au fost plasati deasupra acestuia, iar asta permite o redare mult mai corecta si mai puternica a imaginilor afisate de ecran.
In iPhone 4 pixelii sunt sub un panoul tactil si calitatea imaginilor este afectata, iar in demonstratia de mai sus observati cat de diferite sunt ecranele celor doua terminale. Practic ambele dispozitive au Retina Display-uri, insa tehnologia in-cell din ecranul iPhone 5 a permis producerea unui ecran mai bun deoarece este eliminat un strat de senzori tactili de deasupra pixelilor si rezultatul este o calitate mai buna a imaginilor. Apple a spus ca ecranul este mai bun, unii nu au crezut ca informatiile sunt veridice, insa in final Apple a avut dreptate.
I’ve been looking at the pixels in the new iPhone 5 over the last few days and it really is a higher quality display than the Retina Display in the iPhone 4. Subjectively, looking at the display there is more contrast, the blacks are blacker and the colors are more intense. I took both the new iPhone 5 and the older iPhone 4 and placed their screens on maximum brightness, then imaged them with the same settings with my stereomicroscope and a Canon 1D Mk III camera. Magnification was held constant in all captures.
However, looking at higher magnification is where you can really see the difference in images. It turns out that the pixels in the iPhone 5 are *precisely* the same size as the iPhone 4 pixels, but the iPhone 5 pixels have better color saturation with more contrast, seen particularly in the blue pixels. I did not calculate the difference in color saturation between the two iPhones, but it is pretty clear to the eye which is which. Apple claims 44% increase in color saturation and from these images, I believe them. Interestingly, it almost looks like the *shape* of the pixels in the new iPhone 5 are a little crisper as well. The edges of the subpixels seem more squared in the iPhone 5 than in the iPhone 4.
