The iPad tablet is faster than the iPhone 4

iPhone 4 arrived yesterday in the hands of a few lucky Americans but also of some big overseas publications, so today we have all kinds of information about the new iPhone 4. Stim iPhone 4 already has a 4Ghz A1 processor, identical to the one on the iPad, and 512MB RAM, 2 times more than the iPad and iPhone 3GS, so we all expect the iPhone 4 to be the fastest iDevice produced by Apple at the moment. In reality, it is possible that the iPad tablet is slightly faster than the new iPhone 4 and according to some tests carried out by those from macrumours the iPad tablet is indeed faster than the new iPhone 4.

According to the tests done by macrumours, the iPhone 4 is 31% faster than the iPhone 3GS, but a bit "slower" than the iPad tablet, at least that's what it turns out after the tests done with the GeekBench application. The problem with these tests was that the iPad was running iPhone OS 3.2 and the iPhone 4 iOS 4.0, so the difference in performance between the 2 devices definitely comes from the differences in the 2 operating systems. Let's not forget that iOS 4.0 has many features that require somewhat more powerful hardware to run them and the bench results depend to a large extent on the applications that the iPhone 4 had open in the background and the settings made in the system.

My opinion is that the iPhone 4 is faster than the iPad tablet in iOS 4.0 due to double the amount of RAM, this is the only thing that will make the iPhone 4 the fastest iDevice of the moment and the iPad tablet will probably move as hard as the iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.0.
